Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

All manuscript contributors should follow the American Psychological Association (APA) citation style or Chicago Manual of Style (16th Edition) and note the following additional points:

  • Full research, theoretical papers and review articles should be maximally 30 single-spaced pages.
  • Articles may be written in either English, Amharic, Oromo or Tigrinya.
  • Book reviews should be limited to no more than 5 pages.
  • The preferred format is Microsoft Word.
  • Manuscripts must be typed in 12 point type using Times New Roman or Power Geez in the case of Amharic and Tigrinya.
  • Authors must break up longer articles using section, subsection or other classificatory means as may be necessary such as heads and subheads.
  • All tables and graphics should be integrated in the paper.
  • Where graphics need to be sent separately, authors are requested to indicate the position in the paper for placement of attached figures.
  • An abstract of not more than 200 words should accompany each submission.
  • End notes should be used only where substantive information is conveyed to the reader, numbered with Arabic numerals and presented on a separate page.
  • Authors' names, titles, affiliations, with complete mailing addresses, including e-mail, telephone numbers should appear only on the first page of the paper. A brief biographical note (50 words) for each author should also accompany the paper. All papers submitted for publication should not currently be under consideration by any other publication nor previously published in any other publication.
