The researcher studied theṬana Qirqos Dəggwa, “a book of hymns without-notation” for hiM.A. Thesis, he has also made reference to the biography of Saint Yared as a source of this study.  An assessment has been made of books relevant to the subject, in Amharic, Gə‘əz, and English, including M.A. Thesis’s, Ph.D. dissertations, and articles; five versions of Sain Yared′s homily and hagiography and eighteen other works have been assessed. The main focus of this study was to resolve the controversies surrounding the biography of SainYared and to show the differences and similarities of the different currently available published works. Meanwhile, the views challenging the historicity of Saint Yared and his authorship of the melodic composition passing through the generations to our time have been assessed.  The study concludes with an analysis of the theologically expressed universal thoughts of SainYared, as expressed in his books and preaching, with their message of peace and love furthermore, the evidence is presented that the Gə‘əz Qəne ²Gə‘əz lyric² which characterize the erudition, skill, and philosophy of the traditional scholars originated in the composition of melody. It is verified here, as a new finding, that the compositions of Saint Yared′s hymn originated in Amharic poems. As proof of this, from two verses to six verses of lyrical hymns have been quoted as examples. On other hand, eight poetic hymns selected from the Dəggwa book of hymns² representing the structures of Amharic poems are presented as an example of the style of Amharic poems, namely: Buḥe bälu bet, Yäkäbädä bet, Wäda zämäde bet, Mädina bet, Sängomägän bet, Yäwäl bet, Yäṣäggayä bet, and Yä-Yoḥänə bet. All these are examples of the style of the Amharic poem.
